Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst: “We Need To Send A Senator To Washington Who Has Built Businesses, Created Jobs And Understands That Government Should Be A Facilitator, Rather Than A Deterrent To Job Growth And Business Creation.  It Is For These Reasons That I Am Endorsing Linda McMahon For The United States Senate.”

West Hartford, Conn. Linda McMahon for Senate 2010 today announced that Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst has given his support to Linda’s candidacy for U.S. Senate. First Selectman Herbst issued  the following statement:

“I have given considerable thought and deliberation as to who I will support for the United States Senate.  I have tremendous personal and professional respect for Rob Simmons.  His long record of service, most notably as a soldier in Vietnam is admirable.  However, I firmly believe that this year’s election is like no other in our lifetime.

“The only way we can change Washington is to change the culture of politics as usual.  Washington is fundamentally broken because entrenched, career politicians do not understand the plight everyday Americans are facing.

“Richard Blumenthal is a 20-year symbol of an entrenched, career politician.  The only way we can beat Dick Blumenthal is by nominating a candidate that represents a stark contrast to the Dick Blumenthal the State of Connecticut has come to know these last 20 years.

“The Democrats’ tax and spend ‘merry go round’ in Washington is killing small businesses and working class families.  We need to send a Senator to Washington who has built businesses, created jobs and understands that government should be a facilitator, rather than a deterrent to job growth and business creation.  It is for these reasons that I am endorsing Linda McMahon for the United States Senate.

“Linda McMahon’s life story is inspiring.  She has proven that the American Dream is still alive.  Linda McMahon built a business from the ground up.  Like other business start ups, she faced her series of setbacks.  This did not deter Linda to forge ahead and work even harder.  She built a business that is now publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange and has employed hundreds of Connecticut residents.

“It is time for something different, and Linda McMahon will take this same determination and work ethic to Washington.”

Tim Herbst was elected First Selectman of Trumbull in November 2009. Voted into office at the age of 29, he is the youngest person to be elected to that position.
