Release: Linda McMahon: Rell Guided Connecticut With A Steady Hand

Nov 10, 2009

West Hartford, Conn., November 10, 2009 – Yesterday, Gov. Jodi Rell announced she will not be seeking reelection next year. U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon issued the following statement in response:

“For a quarter century, Jodi Rell has been a tireless advocate for Connecticut families and taxpayers. Throughout her career, she served the people of Connecticut with dignity and determination. As Governor, she took on tough challenges in state government, and along the way, she consistently earned the respect, admiration and support of the citizens of our state.

“Jodi will be remembered as a Governor who guided Connecticut with a steady hand as she helped bring transparency to state government. She understood fundamentally that government cannot spend money it doesn’t have, and that government budgets must be guided by the same kind of fiscal discipline that guides Connecticut families.

“I am deeply grateful for her service and friendship, and all she has done to lead Connecticut Republicans into the future. I wish her, her husband, Lou, and her family only the best.”
