Getting Back To Basics

Apr 7, 2010

I have lived the American Dream, but the American Dream today is under siege. Washington’s economic policies are making life harder for families and small business owners. I want to make sure those starting out in America today have the same opportunities I had. We can do that together, but we have to get back to the basics.

When Ronald Reagan was President, the country experienced the greatest economic expansion in American history.  Reagan’s plan focused on the basics: reduce tax rates across the board, reduce regulations and mandates on businesses, restore sound government finances, and restore sound money by keeping inflation low and the dollar strong. It’s time to get back to basics, and this plan contains the policies I will fight for in the U.S. Senate.

With the help of my Chief Economic Adviser, Dr. John Rutledge, “one of the principal architects of the Reagan economic plan in 1980-81,” I have composed a plan to put Connecticut back to work. My plan is built on the premise that people create jobs, not governments. Instead of growing government, we need to give families and small businesses incentives to work, save and invest.
