Lincoln Day Dinner in Harwinton
Friday night, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Harwinton Republican Town Committee’s Lincoln Day Dinner. Yes, it was the birthday of our 16th President, but it was also a day to celebrate and honor President Lincoln’s courageous leadership. Abraham Lincoln guided our country through one of the most tumultuous times in our history, and he did so by seeking to create a freer nation.
Today, we face far different challenges than those Lincoln faced, but we still need leadership in Washington that can act decisively to preserve our future. Congress’ out-of-control spending and misguided stimulus policies have put our children and grandchildren deep in debt. I explained to the Harwinton Republicans that we need to change the tide in Washington. We can’t spend our way out of debt or allow government to stand in the way of job growth. It’s time for bold leadership in Washington. We should look to Lincoln as an example.
