The Home Stretch

With Election Day right around the corner, local municipal elections are gaining steam. I’m looking forward to Republicans winning races around the state. I have been busy meeting candidates and incumbents as they enter this home stretch, and it’s encouraging to see so much enthusiasm within the party.
Just this past week, Newington Mayor Jeff Wright held a fundraiser and remarked, “The last time the Republican ticket won in this town was back in 1968.” Wright hadn’t even been born yet! He is now running for his second term in office, and his vision to revitalize the town is on the mark.
In Stratford, I was honored to join State Representative John Harkins and his team at a fundraiser. Representative Harkins is building support to become the next Mayor of Stratford. Harkins, the Deputy Republican Leader at Large in the State House, has been a driving force in the Capitol since 1997. He has worked hard to lead his hometown, which was evident by the support I saw in the room, including that of my friend, Governor Jodi Rell.
Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia is also preparing for the November election. His dinner this week was an opportunity to encourage his supporters to continue building momentum through the election. I was honored to be a special guest at the event.
North Branford, Darien, Wilton and New Canaan held their Republican Town Committee meetings this week, as well. The chairs of these committees were gracious hosts, and I am excited to be working with them.
Election Day is November 3rd.
