From The Valley To The Hills

Tonight, I’ll be attending a fundraiser for Republican Mayor Ryan Bingham, from Torrington. He is one of the youngest mayors in the state, and governs one of the largest communities of any Republican mayor or First Selectman in Connecticut.

He has done a remarkable job leading. And most recently took control and gave his community a sense of calm and security during a crisis. A fire ignited inside a large storage facility in the heart of downtown. Mayor Bingham was on scene and right there when his community needed him most.

On Sunday, it will be my pleasure to attend the Shelton Day street festival. Shelton Day was founded and first organized by the Shelton Business District Association in the mid 1980’s as a small street fair.

Organizers set out with a goal; to bring people into downtown and introduce them to the local shop owners. Shelton Day has now grown into a citywide festival and celebration, and is sponsored and run by the Derby/Shelton Rotary Club.

What is really nice about this celebration, all proceeds are put back into the community.
